16 June 2013: We are very sad to announce that our lovely Trish passed away in her sleep at the grand old age of 17 last night :(. Trish originally arrived in our care in 2009, a very scared girl who had led a rather sheltered life and had numerous health conditions. It was decided she would stay in long term foster for the few months she may have left. She surprised us all by being with us a further 5 years. Our thoughts are with her fosterers Cheryl & Mike who gave her all the love and care she could ask for and are devastated by her passing. Sleep tight Trish xxx
Trish has recently celebrated her 17th birthday. She’s a very sweet little Chihuahua and Oldies Club were asked to find her a new home because her owner could no longer care for her.
When she arrived in foster care she was very frightened and it took a lot of time and patience to get her to venture out of her travel cage. She came in with her friend Poppy, but sadly Poppy was so poorly and frail that Oldies Club thought it would be kinder to put her to sleep.
Trish has lived a very sheltered life and has always had Poppy for company. She isn’t in the best of health herself and has a heart condition and hip problems and her hearing isn’t very good. Oldies Club have therefore decided that she should stay as a permanent sponsor dog and she’s now in a wonderful foster home with the company of other small dogs.
Trish’s foster mum has kindly sent us an update …
Trish is a very small Chihuahua who likes to potter around the garden or follow me around the house. She’s very nervous when we have friends come around and will cling to her little friend Sophie, a King Charles X Papillion. Sophie likes to mother Trish and gives her a wash! They like to sleep in the same box and the other day I also found my little Chihuahua, Whisky, curled up with them – three in one bed!!
Trish doesn’t like big dogs and she’s frightened of fireworks. She doesn’t like the rain either, so we’re not really sure what she’ll think if we have snow! She will only eat on her own and this has to be certain foods as she is really fussy. Chicken is her favourite, so it’s only the best for our Trish!
We have bought her a collar and lead and a small coat for when she goes out in the car. She’s an excellent traveller and lies down and goes to sleep within a few minutes.
Trish is a really sweet and gentle little girl and we’re hoping she’s going to enjoy her Christmas with us
Perhaps you’d like to help us care for Trish by taking part in our Sponsor Scheme.
