Ten year old Poppy was originally in the care of Dogs Trust Merseyside, where she arrived with her son, Bailey. Both were featured on our website, here. Dogs Trust were trying to find them a new home together, because being blind and not in the best of health Poppy often followed Bailey’s lead. Sadly this didn’t happen and Bailey was eventually adopted on his own, leaving poor Poppy alone in rescue.
A kind hearted Oldies Club volunteer heard about this and came to Poppy’s rescue, offering her a loving home where she would have another dog for company. All went very well and Poppy settled in nicely with her new companion, Bob.
Poppy had seven months in her new home, but recently she started losing weight and lost the use of her back legs, so her owner and vet felt it was time to let her go. Her owner told us “Bob was a true companion to her and at the end he washed her and lay with her and kept her close. He’s going to miss her.”
Sleep tight Poppy :(
