Could you help transport a dog?

This is a special appeal for anyone that wishes to help with transportation of dogs for the Oldies Club from our Transport Coordinator, Michelle.

There is a shortage of volunteers all over the country at present leading to rescues having to post appeals on forums to get the help they sorely need. Most of the cases I deal with are runs that are required at short notice for dogs that are either in danger of being put to sleep if not moved by a certain date, or for those in dire need of being moved from dreadful circumstances.

Some of you will be aware that I have been gathering information for the last few months of volunteers who I can call on when I need help.

There is no obligation for any volunteer to complete any run or on any particular day or to cover a certain distance. The choice is completely your own. If able to help, a volunteer states which day/s they can help if no specific day is required, where they can meet up and take dog/s to. I then find others to link in with the places mentioned.

I give as much information as I have about the dog/s concerned.

Transporting is a very rewarding experience. It is a chance to meet some of the dogs you may have seen pictures of, get cuddles and know that you have made a difference to their life. Indeed you could well have saved their life or that of another by transporting them.

Could you also please spread the word to work colleagues, friends and family that volunteer help is required. They are more than welcome to join the Animal Rescuers forum.

If interested I will need to have the following information:

Real name. Which town/city you live, when you would normally be available, how far you could travel. Type of vehicle, colour ad registration number. This is for your safety as well as for others and that of the dogs. I need to know if your vehicle is fitted with a dog guard, crates etc. If you are able to transport more than 1 dog at a time and if so are you able to separate them if need be. Contact number and email address, also your user name if you are a member of the A-R forum.

I can be contacted at the following locations:

www.animal-rescuers.com by pm. My member name is Mitch.
