Dorothy was found wandering as a stray in the Lancaster area. She waited out her seven days in the pound but no owner came looking for her, so she started her search for a new family and a new place to call home. Finally, she ended up staying with her foster home, who couldn’t bear to part with her.

Oldies Club member Cindy says:

“On sunday I met up with a old friend called Dorothy. Some of you might remember her from the OC website.

Dorothy is a oldie staffy girl that was found wandering the streets of Lancaster and came into the care of the NSBTR (Northern SBT rescue). When I first heard of her, I fell in love and hubby, Snatch and me travelled up from South Wales to meet her and hope that she would get on with Snatch. Sadly after a bit more than 2.5 hrs it became apparent that she wouldn’t want to share her life with another dog and we had to leave her behind when we went home.

The Oldies Club then featured her on the website in the hope that we could generate some interest for her. Indeed a lot of people fell in love with her teethy smile and her manky eye.

Anyway, I met up with her new owners on a walk for the
Northern Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue (NSBTR) on sunday in Staffordshire and this is what she looks like now –

At the meeting point in Rudyard she had already walked roughly 4 miles and was raring to go.

This is her new owner who fell just as much as everyone else under her spell. Originally they were fostering Dorothy but they soon fell in love and adopted her.

The following picture was taken half way through our 6 mile walk and you can see, she is still up for a good old bark and a walk –

Dorothy was originally aged at around 10-12 years old but since then the vets estimated her to be 13+yrs old. Not only did Dorothy walk around 13 miles that day, she also climbed Snowdon (North Wales, ca. 2000ft) and Munro (Scotland, ca. 3000ft) over the past few months. She obviously is not aware of her age and gives the youngsters a run for their money.

I am still in love with her and I am happy that she is so settled and loved and will continue to update you all in the future about her life. The next time I will see her will be in April 2006 when we all gather for a 7 mile sponsored walk in Cumbria for the NSBTR.

On a closing note, the Oldies Club have got a mention in this quarters NSBTR newsletter where Dorothy was a feature and her story was told and how the Oldies Club generated loads of interest to help her find a new home.

I hope you have all enjoyed hearing from her again.”
