Martha

Martha was found as a stray in Ireland, pitifully thin, her body ravished with mange. She was taken in by ASH rescue and restored to health with weeks of veterinary treatment and tender loving care. The dog that emerged from that abused and neglected stray was something very special and Martha swiftly became a favourite with the staff and volunteers at ASH.

Due to the severe overpopulation of dogs in Ireland oldies like Martha stand next to no chance of getting a home so Remi from ASH asked the Oldies Club if we would take her on and find her a home of her own with someone who would really appreciate the special dog that she is…

…we think we’ve done that! :-)

Martha spent several weeks in foster care with Oldies Club member Kelly, gradually learning to trust and love. A very flinchy, headshy dog, it is likely she has been abused at some point in her past yet – even when she cowered in fear – Martha was never anything but sweet and gentle.

Now in her new home with mum Nats, Martha is bonding beautifully, following her new owner everywhere and revelling in the security of her own home!

As Nats says:

“We have bonded so quickly I wouldn’t part with her now. Trying to get her to play is proving extremely difficult but will stick at it and hopefully my hard work will pay off.”

It seems to be working already!
