Seb has been horribly neglected. Here is his story as told by his fosterer Kelly.

Seb was a UK poundie until Friday when he was freed from pound life with the aid of the Oldies Club’s trusty transporters and ferried to an experienced foster home with Kelly.

Poor Seb is in a bad way, itchy, balding and he has a horrible injury inside his eye which looks like it will need to be removed as it seems to be eroding away and filling with blood.

Seb will have a malaseb bath when he wakes up, he’s so exhausted I don’t have the heart to wake him t do it now, he will see the vet first thing tomorrow. Least he is in a warm room though, it’s pitiful the state these dogs wind up in, somebody somewhere should be wholly ashamed of themselves.

He’s still asleep lol, he ate some food and then when I went back in two minutes later the bowl was empty and he was zonked out again. Still no bath achieved and I can’t do it any later cos the heating will go off at 11 and he’ll get cold. Will put a coat on him when I wake him to go out for a wee and leave that on all night I think. Poor ole soul must be exhausted.

I’ll see how early I can get a vet appointment tomorrow, if it’s early I won’t bath him til after, maybe its best the vet sees him as he is and while he’s sleeping he’s not scratching anyway.

Well it’s mixed news really. The skin condition is almost certainly a flea allergy as suspected so thats quite good news cos it means he can mix with my rabble when he’s feeling up to it. He is on twice weekly malaseb baths and antibiotics which will also help his onset of kennel cough.

His eye is pretty gruesome, it is a cataract that has caused the damage, gotta say I’ve never seen anything quite like it, I always thought cataracts sat sort of on the surface of the eye but this has worn a deep hole into his eye and it’s pretty gross. the vet says he is in no pain with it now but that it must have been extremely painful in the past while the damage was actually taking place. For now there is nothing to be done but we are to watch what happens over the next four to five weeks and if it starts to cause him problems it will need to be removed. By that time we should have got rid of the kennel cough and got some headway with his skin and coat so he will be about ready to neuter and he can have anything necessary on his eye done at the same time.

To add to this poor old souls troubles he appears to have had some kind of trauma to his left hand side. His shoulder is ‘not right’ and his ear is battered and torn which may or may not have taken place at the same time. Again only time will tell if this will improve now he’s out of kennels and in the warm or whether he will need to go onto long term pain killers for it.

Here are some piccies of the wounded soldier, he still looks thoroughly depressed to me and I am really hoping that he picks up emotionally soon as he has quite a fight still ahead of him and he doesn’t look to me like he really has the will to get through it all.

Seb’s fur is coming through nicely, he will be well enough to be booked in for neutering shortly. He is already like a different dog, and we hope that soon he will be ready to start looking for a new home!

Seb moved to his final foster home on Christmas Eve. It’s his final foster home because this lovely family have decided that Seb will stay with them forever. This is what they have said:

“He is such an adorable little man who has been through hell and back and we feel any further upheaval in his life is uneccessary ……. he has settled so well in his new surroundings and has become an important part of our lives, so much so that it seems he has been with us forever …… now he will be.”

Congratulations to everyone involved in Seb’s rehabilitation.

February 2006
Seb and his owner have been working hard for the Oldies Club! They have appeared on local BBC radio, and appealed for knitting machines to help out the Coats for Oldies project. There was quite an influx – well done Seb for helping oldies stay nice and warm.

Seb has also had the snip, and has been out and about meeting friends from the Oldies Club on walks.

We’re really sorry to have to report that Seb has just passed away.
For some time now Seb has been having ‘trancelike’ episodes during which he has been totally unresponsive, he had become weaker and unstable on his back legs ….. all down to a severe trauma to his left side, which may have been caused by being hit by a car.

This morning he was not himself, and his devastated owners had to take the hard decision to let him slip away. All our thoughts are with them, the people who gave Seb such a happy end to his sad life.
