8/2/2007 Badly neglected Hazel developed acute liver failure and had to be put to sleep. CDRS told us that she was a truly lovely dog and we are very sorry that she ran out of time before she had time to enjoy a happy home life.

Hazel is a medium-sized (knee-height) brindle crossbreed girl of about 8 to 10 years old. She is at Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Buckinghamshire.

Poor Hazel has suffered a lot of neglect over her life. She is malnourished and needs an understanding owner to give her the home comforts she has missed for so long.

Hazel is spayed. She has a congenitally deformed breast bone but this presents her with no physical problems. However she is currently sore underneath where she has been resting on a hard surface for a long time.

CDRS tell us that Hazel is a dear dog who has clearly had a very tough time and yet has retained her faith in people. She is enjoying her walks, and delights in any attention that she receives from the staff and the volunteers. It would be so wonderful to give her a second chance.

Hazel needs a cat-free home. She can’t be rehomed with a young family as it would probably be too much for her to cope with, however, she is gentle and friendly so may suit someone with visiting older children. Hazel would probably prefer to be the only dog in the home although she is being introduced to different dogs at CDRS and this is going well.
