The Oldies Club has added its support to the new Say No to Breed Specific Legislationwebsite, set up due to recent media reports calling for more legislation for “dangerous” dogs.

The Kennel Club and Dogs Trust have both made statements (which can be found on the above website) opposing Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) and any amnesty which would lead to the death of innocent dogs. Well known dog trainer Victoria Stillwell (of It’s Me or The Dog fame) has also spoken out against BSL and a proposed amnesty.

An amnesty proposed by Merseyside Police may start as early as next week, should Home Office approval be granted.

A petition has also been established at the ’10 Downing Street’ website, opposing BSL and any amnesty. The petition can be signed here.

In addition, a BSL section has been created on the Refuge forum. You will need to join the Refuge rescue forum to view this section.
