2/6/2007 Colonel has had to be put to sleep after losing all use of his hindquarters. What a sad ending for this poor boy who has had such an appalling life. Rest in peace, brave Colonel.

Colonel is a German Shepherd Dog of about 10 or 11 years old who is at RSPCA Tameside and Glossop. He was found tied up in a barn, along with several other GSDs – all were in a very emaciated condition. They had been used for breeding and were totally neglected. Surprisingly, they all have good temperaments.

Colonel is the oldest of these dogs and now needs that very special retirement home where he can experience the comfort and love he has so sadly missed out on.

Colonel cannot be rehomed to families with children under 10 years old due to his large size and terrible history. He needs a quiet retirement home without cats.

Although he is currently not neutered due to awaiting the outcome of his court case, he will be if the RSPCA’s vets consider him fit enough for the operation.
