10 April 2007 – Bath Cats and Dogs Home has informed us that Midge has very sadly had to be put to sleep as he was very unwell. Midge spent his last six months at the home in the office, with lots of people around him – and he also had a lovely band of people who visited the home daily just to walk him. He is very much missed. Sleep tight Midge.

Midge is a very handsome twelve-year-old white and tan castrated male Jack Russell Terrier being rehomed through Bath Cats & Dogs Home. He was brought back to the home in February 2007, after only two weeks as he didn’t settle. He originally arrived at Bath Cats & Dogs Home in September 2006, after being abandoned by his owner.

Midge, BCDH

Bath Cats & Dogs Home said … Midge is a sweet old man that can be a bit of a Victor Meldrew. He has obviously had a very bad life and is seeking someone that has the time and patience to help him build up his confidence – he just needs a loving home where he can be spoilt rotten. He needs to be handled in a quiet and gentle manner as he has a growth on his side that is being investigated by the vets and he doesn’t like it being touched as it is obviously is very painful, although he is fine once he knows you but has to be muzzled to visit the vets. He also has a broken a rib from when he was only a puppy which wasn’t treated which has resulted in it protruding.

Midge originally arrived at the home with very sore and lacerated pads on his feet, but despite all this he is still a very friendly and loving chap that wants love and attention. He knows a few commands but is slightly deaf so you need to shout to get his attention! He seems a very fit little dog for his age and enjoys short walks and is good on the lead.

Midge hates being left and gets quite distressed so he resorts to constantly barking. He therefore needs a nice quiet, warm home and ideally would suit an older couple that is at home most of the day. He is housetrained, good with bitches and cats and would be fine where any children are aged 14+ and sensible.

Midge is too old to be in kennels – can you offer him a new warm and loving home? Midge can be found in A Block with ID number 9403.
