31/7/2007 We’ve been informed that Pugsey has sadly passed away. Here’s a little message from one of the Dogs Trust staff: “We’re so sorry boy that we couldnt help you more, but yet we are happy to have helped you when you were in need and show you even when you’re a grumpy old man and a bit of a bugger that you can still be loved. Run free. From DT Merseyside”

Pugsey is 14 years old. He is at Dogs Trust Merseyside because his former owner was disabled and could no longer care for him.

Poor Pugsey has had no interest whatsoever, but he is such a character that someone is missing out!

Pugsey is a typical grumpy old man. He growls when he doesn’t want to do something, for example if you stroke him, but apparently it’s very funny!!!

He has a thyroid problem and so he is offered on the Dogs Trust foster scheme which means that any ongoing treatment for this medical condition will be paid for by Dogs Trust.

Due to his thyroid condition, Pugsey needs one full body bath a week, and his neck is washed once a week too. He needs to be muzzled when groomed and bathed, but he hates his muzzle so it’s a battle to get it on!!

Pugsey lives in the Dogs Trust kitchen as it’s more cosy in there for him. It also fits his character as he loves his food and eats anything that is put in front of him, so he?s really good with taking his meds.

His carers can’t clip his nails anymore because of the ‘quick’. The quick has grown so that they can’t be clipped, which apparently sometimes happens with older dogs.

Pugsey is OK with other dogs but he needs a cat-free home with adults only.
