Oldies Club is now recruiting volunteer Regional Co-ordinators plus a Writer for the Oldies Club website.

Regional Co-ordinators
We’re looking for people who can help and assist co-ordinate what happens in their region, ranging from street collections, meet & greets, collection boxes locations and various other fundraising events. If you feel you have time to rally together volunteers, contact local businesses, keep up to date with when local dog shows and county fairs are taking place then we would like to hear from you. This could potentially take up as little or as much time as you have and the role is ready to be developed. All we ask is that you keep in regular contact, are happy to work with some guidance and enjoy a bit of healthy competition!

We hope that this could really help to give Oldies Club a strong local base and the areas will be broken down (boundaries are yet to be defined) as follows:

South East
South West
Midlands
North East
North West
Wales
Scotland

If you think you’d be interested, please email Kelly.

Writer
We need an additional volunteer writer/editor to join the Oldies Club web team and we would be delighted to hear from anyone that meets the requirements described below.

You need to be able to translate descriptions that are sent from rescues into website entries that will sell the dogs. In some cases, the information we are sent can be used more or less as it arrives but, in other cases, the information might need rearranging or rewriting to give the oldie the best possible chance of finding its new family.

You need to be able to judge the best way to promote each oldie. For some the best way is to stress the negatives – lots of people want to help a really needy dog, whilst for others you need to stress the positives – still very active, loves to play, etc.

It is obviously very important that published entries are accurate and truthful; we always ask rescues to read through the final copy and let us know about any inaccuracies.

In summary, we need someone that is organised and efficient and has a flair for succinct, accurate, interesting writing. You must also be able to resize and crop images, and be fairly IT literate in order to use the content management software. And you must, of course, love old dogs!

If you think you have what it takes, and you have plenty of time to spare, email some brief information about yourself and we’ll be in touch ASAP.
