July 2011 – we are very sad to have to let you know that the beautiful FeeBee has passed away. FeeBee was a very popular sponsor dog and we are very grateful to everyone who has sponsored her over the years. Oldies Club is thinking of her wonderful family, who have taken such great care of her since she became a sponsor dog. Run free, FeeBee, you are very much missed.

Fee-1

FeeBee is a gorgeous 14-year-old Collie Retriever Cross with a beautiful nature to match her stunning looks. She has come into the care of the Oldies Club as her elderly owner has sadly passed away.

A few weeks after arriving in her foster home in Edinburgh, poor Feebee fell ill with a very high temperature, which didn’t come down even after three nights on the drip at the vet’s and high doses of antibiotics. Things were looking rather bleak for this sweet old girl, but then the vet suggested that she might be suffering from an autoimmune related disease. She was therefore given steroids, to which she responded instantly and the lucky girl was allowed to go home the next day!

The steroids have given her a new lease of life, but her red blood cell count is still very low and seems to be falling. She will have to be closely monitored by the vet for the rest of her life. With no definite diagnosis, nobody knows how long FeeBee is likely to have left, so she is no longer available for rehoming and will be staying in her foster home for her remaining time.

FeeBee is a very gentle and loving soul who likes to be handled gently in return. She enjoys tender cuddles and talks to you when you stroke her, and you might also get a gentle kiss if you are lucky!

She is a very mellow and laid-back lady who likes to spend her days sleeping in one of her two comfy beds that she brought with her from her previous home. At night time she is happy to sleep on her own, but during daytime she doesn’t like to be by herself and whines for company when left for too long!

Fee-3

Despite suffering from arthritis, FeeBee still loves to go for walks and comes running to the front door when she realises she is going out. However, instead of walking briskly she prefers to take her time, taking in her surroundings and the different smells that are all so interesting!

FeeBee gets on well with other dogs she meets out and about and has shown no signs of aggression, but when they come across as too bouncy and playful she certainly knows how to warn them off! She is excellent both on and off the lead, and comes and sits next to you when you call for her.
