A Pound a Paw Appeal

Could you spare a monthly donation by standing order to help our older dogs with veterinary treatment? £1 a paw per month (£4 per dog) would be ideal but any contribution, however small, is a big help to us. Our biggest expense is by far, veterinary costs. The majority of our dogs need at least basic veterinary treatment when they arrive in our care and many will need medication, dental treatment and possibly surgery for neglected or untreated conditions. We do not turn away sick dogs. We knowingly take dogs with health problems to help give them comfort and care in the remaining time they have left. However, many do arrive in poor health quite unexpectedly.

At present we have a record number of dogs in permanent foster care which are funded by the charity as they are too unwell to be rehomed. We are supported by a fantastic network of fosterers that care for our dogs in their own homes. Veterinary costs alone for the first 3 months of 2013 were – January £6504.94, February £3190.17 and March £5140.77

We are a tiny charity with no paid workers or regular funding. By making a monthly contribution you will help us to ensure the health and wellbeing of the dogs in our care and allow us to help many other oldies dogs that are desperate for a rescue place.

You can set up your monthly donation via our Just Giving Page http://www.justgiving.com/oldies/donate . If you are an income tax payer could you please also click on the gift aid declaration box and Just Giving will sort this out for us.
