11 March 2017: We are very sorry to have to update Cassie’s page with the news that she sadly passed away yesterday :-( We’re very grateful to her fosterer for taking such great care of Cassie for us in her last years. Cassie will be much missed. Sleep tight, sweet girl x

Cute little Cassie came into Oldies Club care in April 2014 at the age of 17 after her elderly owner had to go into a care home and the lady caring for her had to work long hours which she felt was unfair on Cassie.

Shortly after arriving Cassie seemed to be having problems with her waterworks and was discovered she had bladder-stones which were successfully removed and she was put a prescription diet to help prevent these reccurring in the future. The vet also felt that Cassie could do with a dental but due to her age felt that they couldn’t keep her under anaesthetic for too much time and that it would have to take place at a later date.

Cassie has poor eyesight & hearing and is very skittish with even the smallest noise making her jump. It was also found that little Cassie suffers from separation anxiety and would pace around the house and bark constantly while left alone.

Due to the combination of her medical issues and separation anxiety it was decided it would be best for Cassie to remain in Oldies Club care as a long term foster dog.

Cassie was including in our latest Secret Santa and she was spoilt for choice with her new coat and lots of goodies.

At 18 Cassie is still a sensitive little girl and things continue to scare her but having had time to settle into a routine she is full of the joys of spring and very cheeky in her home.

Cassie’s fosterer says – Cassie is keeping well and plays with me a bit but she does not know what to do with a toy. Her hearing is not too good and I have to speak loud for her to hear me but she jumps when there is a loud noise, like when a door bangs, she also does not see very well but apart from that she is a very happy dog and goes for walks twice a day and is always ready to go. Cassie eats very well and lets me know when it is meal times, she is very cheeky and paws at me to let me know.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Cassie or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme.
