We need an additional volunteer writer to join the Oldies Club web team and would be delighted to hear from you if you have the time and skills we need.

Web team volunteers need to translate the information that is sent from rescues into website entries that will help oldies get noticed. In some cases the information can be used more or less as it arrives, but in other cases the information needs editing or rewriting to give the oldie the best chance of finding a new family. You need to be able to judge the best way to promote each oldie. It is very important that published entries are accurate and truthful: we always ask rescues to read the final version and let us know of any inaccuracies.

You need to be IT literate in order to use the content management software, and you must be confident about resizing images. A little HTML knowledge comes in handy too but isn’t vital. You do need to be happy to work as part of a team of volunteers, and fit in with our standard way of working in order to keep the website consistent.

Being a web team volunteer takes up a lot of time, so please only apply if you have plenty of time on your hands. It would be ideal if you normally have a few spare hours on 3 or 4 days of each week.

In summary, we need someone that is organised, efficient and has a flair for succinct, accurate, interesting writing. And you must, of course, love old dogs!

If you think you have what it takes, email: jot@oldies.org.uk, including any details that you think might be relevant, and we’ll be in touch ASAP. :)
