11/10/2017 Sadly Penny passed away in her sleep. She was 23 years old. Sleep tight little one.

Pretty little Penny is a very small, stumpy-tailed Jack Russell Terrier, who was adopted by her foster mum in 2010 when she couldn’t bear to part with her.

Penny’s adopter very sadly passed away in 2016 and so Penny came back into Oldies Club care. Her records show that she is now 22 years old(!) and due to her age and a number of health issues, we felt it was in Penny’s best interest for her to be placed in our sponsor dog scheme, which means she will stay in her wonderful forever-foster home for the rest of her life, with Oldies Club covering her vet bills.

Penny’s forever-foster mum tells us that Penny was, understandably, very subdued for the first few days in her new home. They thought they had discovered a very rare variety of JRT – a silent one! – then she blossomed :-).

Penny was checked over by a vet after returning to our care, where it was discovered that she has a grade 4/5 heart murmur. She also has a cataract in one eye and is given eye drops for dry eyes.

Despite her age and health worries, her foster mum tells us that Penny is a delightful, nosy, noisy bundle of fun who is into everything.

She is sharing her home with other dogs, loves everyone she meets and is an absolute delight as she bounds around the place, with no outward sign of her heart condition :-)

Although she’s reached such a wonderful age and has health worries, Penny’s forever-foster mum says she’s so full of life and fun and she’ll be enjoying herself with her new family for as long as she can.
