07/01/22 – Sadly our little Diamond suffered with a number of seizures overnight. She went peacefully in her fosterers arms. Sleep tight little one xx

Diamond is 13 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who came into Oldies Club care with her sister Chock-Dee in February 2020 after the breakdown of their owners marriage and them having to move to pet free accommodation.  They are affectionately known by their fosterers as Big C and Tiny D.

The girls settled in well after their arrival. What was immediately noticeable was that their tongues tend to hang out a lot especially with Diamond, whose tongue is constantly on show. Sadly she has no teeth which means its very difficult for them to keep them in their mouths. Both suffer with heart murmurs and Chock-Dee had a deformed paw.

Due to their health concerns, Oldies Club made the decision to place Chock-Dee & Diamond in our sponsor dog scheme, which means they will remain at their lovely foster home on a permanent basis, with the charity paying their vet bills for the rest of their lives.

Sadly in June 2021 Chock-Dee was diagnosed with a neurological problem and was sadly deteriorating quickly. After a weekend of being spoilt she went peacefully in her fosterers arms. Her foster family were devastated and we had concerns about Diamond as they had always been together. Thankfully she is adjusting well and her fosterers and making sure she is getting extra fuss and attention.

Diamond really love people and although she has a number of very comfy beds she will often lie on the floor until their fosterers sits down, at which point she turn into a human blanket. She will begrudgingly lie in a bed if her fosterers are busy such as when her foster Mum is working in her studio.

Diamond is an attention seeking little princess, she would nudge her sister out of the way if she was getting more attention than her. She loves to sniff absolutely everything on the ground. Unfortunately this means her tongue is forever covered in dirt and leaves – although she will happily let you clean it with a flannel like a diva.

Diamond is a comically fierce protector in the house. If any animal (or Pikachu) happens to pop up on the television, she heroically guards her fosterers until the danger has passed.

Whilst out on walks she vocally let the local cats know who’s boss whilst ignoring all other animals.

Like a proper senior citizen, she likes to nap for a lot of the day but manages short walks.  She love hugs; brushing; attention stalking the family; and watching her fosterers cook.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor Diamond, or one of the other special oldies we are caring for in our sponsor dog scheme.
