~ Arriving in Oldies Club care in the summer of 2021, due to her person’s ill health, Rachel, who is blind and hard of hearing, was soon to be diagnosed with cancer. Since we welcomed Rachel into our care, her veterinary bills have exceeded £8,000, including initial investigations and a number of surgeries.

*******

We continue our Summer Appeal with the help of the beautiful Rachel (any other brindle fans out there?), asking if more dog lovers would please be able to show their support for our rescue work by donating £2+ today.

Rachel remains in our care, in a wonderful forever foster home, with a family that has cared for her through all of her veterinary treatment, and where she is much loved. Rachel is doing very well now, enjoying her meals, several little walks each day, and plenty of snoozing :-)

Rachel and her fosterer have a wonderful bond and we are so glad that after all they have been through, they are able to stay together, through our sponsor dog scheme, where Oldies Club covers vet bills for the rest of each dog’s life. In the 12 months to May 2022, our overall expenses for sponsor dogs remaining with us during that period were over £27,000! This is obviously a significant, and ongoing, commitment on our part.

It is only with your support that we can ensure that we have the financial means to not only continue helping the dogs currently in our care, both the sponsor dogs and those who are rehomed when they are ready, often following expensive veterinary treatments themselves, but also keep our doors open to welcome other older dogs into our care in the future.

We do understand these are challenging times for many, but if you can spare £2 or more, it would be most welcome – and please don’t ever think that your donation is too small. We have almost 40,000 people following this page. Imagine how lots of little donations – from those in a position to help – would add up. Please donate HERE.

If you would prefer to donate via bank transfer, please email for details, using the subject “Summer Appeal”, so that we can keep track of the overall total raised for this appeal.

Thank you, and thank you very much indeed to everyone who has already donated,

The dogs and volunteers at Oldies Club :-)

~ After being left to live alone in the garden after his person died, Snubz is one of the dogs now in the care of Oldies Club, a small, volunteer-run charity rescuing and rehoming older dogs in the UK.

This week, we launched our Oldies Club Summer Appeal, with the help of the lovely Snubz. We understand that times are not the easiest and that not every dog lover will be able to donate at this time, but you can donate from £2 upwards via the above link and we hope that as many of our supporters as possible will support our Summer Appeal! We have set a target of £15,000 for this appeal, which would make a significant and very welcome contribution to our ongoing expenses, which were, as examples, over £23,000 in May 2022 and over £16,000 in June 2022, with the vast majority of costs being veterinary care/medications!

Over the coming weeks, we will introduce you to some of the dogs we have been caring for, starting with the lovely Snubz, who came into Oldies Club care a few months ago, bringing with him a very sad tale, as he had been living in a garden for six months, following the death of his owner :-(. Although he obviously was given some food during those months, it clearly wasn’t nearly enough, nor the regular daily meals we all lovingly provide for our own beloved dogs. Coupled with the impact of losing his person and then living outside, alone, for months, which we all find utterly heartbreaking, this had all had a negative impact on Snubz’s overall health and wellbeing :-(

Snubz, thank goodness, finally found his way into the care of another rescue, which provided initial sanctuary before he was welcomed into an Oldies Club foster home. Snubz required surgery and has received ongoing veterinary treatment and support since coming into our care and we have so far spent over £4,000 on his veterinary bills. His ongoing health worries have concerned us all, but we are very pleased that he has recently gained several much-needed kilos in weight and is eating more. Following his recent vet check, we are all hopeful his body is healing – something we feel can even be observed in the contrast between these photos, which were taken a few weeks apart. We all felt rather emotional, seeing his smiling face while he relaxed on his snuggly bed at his foster home this weekend, and very much appreciate all the TLC he’s receiving in foster :-)

As a responsible volunteer-run rescue and registered charity, Oldies Club works hard to ensure that it has the finances available to provide for the dogs in its care, who often arrive in need of extensive veterinary examinations, treatment and medication before they can be adopted, along with the dogs we care for as part of our sponsor dog scheme, covering their veterinary bills for life. To help enable us to continue welcoming older dogs into our care, we would be very grateful if you would CLICK HERE to make a donation to our Summer Appeal. If you would prefer to donate via bank transfer, please email for details, using the subject “Summer Appeal”, so that we can keep track of the overall total raised for this appeal.

Thank you,
The dogs and volunteers at Oldies Club :-)
