Lexi’s tales of visiting, adventuring and bed warming!

We’ve heard from Lexi’s adopter with some lovely tales of Lexi’s new life:

I was so lucky to get darling Lexi in January and from the word go she settled in immediately, no problems whatsoever. I picked her up from her lovely fosterers, who had a seven year old granddaughter who was bereft to be losing Lexi. When you are seven, you choose not to understand certain words, foster, temporary and not for ever. Well, my friend who accompanied me, Jean and rescue Buster, fell in love with the area of Pevensey and seven weeks later, went back to reunite Lexi with her foster family and their neighbours. She greeted all most enthusiastically. We were a little worried in case it would be confusing for her, but no, she took it all in her stride and happily jumped back in the car later. We stayed in a lovely oast house near Rye, where dogs were most welcome, in fact every dog got a sausage for breakfast.

Back home, we have some lovely walks in the area and we have a best friend, Tilly a Boxer. It is amazing how they communicate with each other. Tilly is normally in the lead, being bigger and younger. The other day, both dogs raced towards a river, but Lexi who I think has cataracts, missed Tillys entrance in the river and shot across a bridge. Realising Tilly was no longer with her, she came back, looking a little bewildered but Tilly came out of the river, went up to her, put her face very close, and whatever was said, both dogs disappeared into the river together. Due to a steep bank the river is obscured and there are only certain places where dogs have easy access, clearly Tilly knew this, and guided Lexi who adores a paddle and a good drink of river water.

We are all aware of the cost of staying warm but I can highly recommend a Staffie in your bed. She snuggles up to me and her tummy is so warm, there is no need for a hot water bottle and we share the same pillow. Some people might think ugh but I think it builds up the immune system and certainly reduces blood pressure. All I can say is THANK YOU for allowing me to have Lexi, she is an absolute joy and I love her so much. Keep up your excellent work.

Thank you so much for the update on Lexi. We are so pleased to hear that she is enjoying life with you, and also helping you to keep warm in these challenging times!
