Prince, contemplating the extent of his IT skills

Oldies Club’s Rehoming team needs more help. For this role you would need to be able to cover one full day each week. We can be flexible which day you cover, but for the training period it would be ideal if you are available on Thursdays for most of the day.

Rehoming is an IT-heavy role. Thorough experience of using Google Drive, and confidence with accurately completing spreadsheets and inserting hyperlinks, is essential. We work to quite rigid procedures so that records are kept consistent and accurate.

You will answer email messages and deal with voicemail messages, mainly from people who are looking for a rescue place for their dog, but also from potential adopters. Telephone calls are received through a voicemail service and we return calls as soon as we can, so you don’t have to be tied to the phone the whole time, but most days are very busy indeed. Rehoming usually takes up most of the working day, and we also periodically check the inbox on the prior evening.

You must have a reliable laptop or desktop as there is a lot of computer work and admin involved in recording calls and updating spreadsheets and documents. You must have confident IT skills and be tolerant of doing the boring bits accurately.

As part of a friendly team you will be given lots of support and guidance about the way we work and how to respond to calls and messages, and we make many of our decisions on a team basis.

As with all Oldies Club roles, this post is voluntary and home based.

Rehoming can be emotional, infuriating and draining, but also immensely satisfying when you are able to help a dog in desperate need into a safe foster home, or see a dog go from a foster home to a perfect forever home.

If you are interested, please email fran@oldies.org.uk with a brief summary of your IT skills, experience and availability, and why you’d like to help us!
