Lucky Larry – 15 year old poundie saved!

Oldies Club was contacted recently about a Collie cross who was in a pound and out of time (legally, even a healthy stray dog can be put down if he/she remains unclaimed by their owner after seven days).

This poor old chap was estimated to be around 15 years of age and faced being put down. We are very pleased to tell you that due to the combined efforts of the initial contact, Oldies Club, a fantastic transport volunteer and wonderful fosterers, this lovely old boy was rescued from the pound just in time and is now settling into his foster home.

This is the first photo we have of the lovely Larry, named by his foster family, looking a little confused and bedraggled after his experience. We look forward to seeing new photos once he has had a chance to settle in foster.

Oldies Club often faces unexpected costs when taking in older dogs, both from pound and home situations. We work hard to ensure that the funds are available to provide any necessary veterinary treatment for the older dogs in its care while in foster, prior to rehoming.

We are extremely grateful, in Larry’s case, to have been able to commit to helping him and providing any veterinary treatment he will require, while in foster care, thanks to a grant from the Kennel Club Charitable Trust, which was recently given to Oldies Club in memory of the late Miss Sybil Churchill.

Knowing that this financial support had been very kindly made available by the Trust, meant that we could take Larry in, saving his life and knowing his needs could be provided for :)

Oldies Club welcomes donations to its general vet fund appeal – more information can be found here.
