31/05/2022: Dolci has been adopted! Hooray!

Pretty, 8-year-old Dolci arrived at Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool due to a change in her owner’s circumstances. The situation was urgent and Dolci risked being put to sleep, but thankfully Freshfields were able to take her in.

Freshfields say: “Wow, what can we say about this girl! She is a real love bug and full of personality. We have all fallen in love with her here, she really does steal the heart of everyone she meets.”

Dolci is a quiet girl who can be timid at first with new people. Her previous owners advised Freshfields that Dolci had sadly been subject to some abuse in the past. When Dolci first arrived at the kennels she was very shut down, so she has now moved to the kennel kitchen where she gets to spend more time with the staff and volunteers. She has really come out of her shell and now shows her wonderful personality; when she’s comfortable she lets her playful side show.

She is generally very calm and loves spending the day tucked up on her sofa, but every now and again she will have a boost of energy and race around playing with her toys which is a joy to see. Dolci is a very placid, sweet dog who will make a fantastic companion.

Dolci has had a full health check and in good health with no ongoing medical conditions.

As Dolci can be nervous of new people she needs an adult-only home with minimal visitors and no visiting children. Due to the abuse that she suffered it can take her longer to form bonds with men, so a female owner would suit her best, but she is making progress every day.

Dolci mixes well with some dogs on walks, but she does prefer her own space, so she is best suited to being the only pet in the home. She does not like cats and will chase small animals such as birds.

Dolci has spent periods of time at home with a member of staff and a volunteer and she has proven to be the perfect guest. She is quiet, clean and non-destructive in the home so could be left alone for a couple of hours.

Potential adopters will need to be committed to visiting Dolci regularly to form a relationship before taking her home – please consider your location before applying.
