Adorable Annabelle is looking for a calm, quiet retirement home where she can feel safe, relaxed, and loved. She is currently being cared for by Dogs4Rescue in Manchester in a foster home. A forever, loving home without young children would suit her best; she would really benefit from a kind, patient adopter who will let her grow at her own pace.
Annabelle is a medium size Crossbreed and is 10 years old. She is a sweet, sensitive girl who is slowly but surely blossoming into the most loving companion. Initially nervous and unsure around new people, she takes her time to build trust but, once she feels safe, she gives her whole heart. She’s incredibly affectionate with those she knows, and nothing makes her happier than a good tummy rub, a gentle cuddle and your calm company.
Annabelle is currently thriving in a foster home, where her confidence is growing every day. She’s even been brave enough to meet a visitor – a big step for this lovely lady. One of her sweetest routines is her morning cuddle session before breakfast. She’ll nudge your elbow for attention, present her bottom for a scratch and often roll over in delight for a belly rub. She even has a dainty little snore that only adds to her charm.
Annabelle walks beautifully on the lead and enjoys quiet, peaceful strolls. She gets excited when she sees her lead and happily wags her tail – a sign of the joy she’s finding in life again. Though she can be a little spooked by sudden noises or busy surroundings, she’s making great progress with gentle encouragement. She gets on well with larger dogs and has shown no signs of aggression, just calm, respectful behaviour and the occasional giddy invite to play.
In the home, Annabelle is wonderfully behaved – clean, non-destructive and happy to be left for short periods, as long as she has the company of another dog. She’s also lived with a cat in the past. While she still finds strangers in the home a little overwhelming and prefers a quiet, settled environment, she’s beginning to explore more of the house and is clearly feeling safer as time goes on.
Annabelle is neutered and does have some skin issues but this has improved massively with care and she now has a soft, shiny coat and healthy ears. She even enjoys gentle ear rubs now, which she once found too scary. She’s finished her medication and continues to thrive on daily supplements and oil.
