Jabu and Mackie are a loving, friendly bonded pair looking for their forever home through Helping Dogs and Cats Rescue. Having sadly lost both of their owners within a short time of each other, they are now being cared for in a foster home in Andover, Hampshire. They will make the most wonderful, loyal companions for their new family.
Mackie
Mackie is a 10-year-old Pug cross and very much the eyes and ears of the team! She adores people and is perfectly happy sitting on your lap or following you around to check what you’re up to. After that, she’ll happily snooze beside Jabu.
She gets on well with other dogs, though she may give a gentle bark when on the lead if she sees another dog. This is likely because she was always walked off-lead in the past. Her foster mum is working on this, and they are making excellent progress.
Jabu
Jabu is a 13yr old Jack Russell Terrier. He relies on Mackie for comfort and support and they are the best of chums. He is pretty independent though and happy to chill out at home. Like Mackie, he is happiest having a snooze on the sofa.
They have both been much loved pets and were well cared for in their previous home. They are doing brilliantly getting used to their new way of life and routine and are both easy going and well behaved in the home.
Jabu is currently learning to respond to a whistle as he is hard of hearing. Both dogs are very laid-back and are never in a rush to go out until you are ready. That said, they do enjoy their outings, are happy to walk for as long as you wish, and both walk nicely on their leads.
They can be left for a few hours without any issues — they simply curl up on the sofa and nap, and they sleep comfortably at the end of the bed at night. They could share a home with other dogs and could live with respectful children aged 8+. They have previously lived with cats, so with careful and successful introductions, they could potentially do so again.
A nice peaceful home where they can snooze undisturbed would make them very happy.
Jabu and Mackie are an adorable sweet pair of loving friends that will bring joy, love and a whole lot more to their new forever home.
