Handsome Charlie boy has been in care with Rescue Me Animal Sanctuary for a while and he is desperate to find a retirement home. He is 10+ years old and has seen it all. He is unfazed by the world, hoping to spend his golden years with a full belly and a warm sofa. Sadly, he was unclaimed at the pound and at risk of euthanasia due to being an older boy.

Charlie is very polite with new people. He doesn’t jump up and never barks and he has been a dream in his foster home. He also has excellent dog manners and gets on well with all dogs he meets. Charlie hasn’t lived with another dog, but this may be possible after careful introductions. Charlie cannot live with cats. He can be left on his own up to a few hours with no problems, and he travels well in a car and on public transport.

Charlie is a smart boy who is very food motivated. This makes him great to train and he has enjoyed learning new tricks and recall. He does however have a talent for getting into food he shouldn’t, so care needs to be taken that he doesn’t have access to food that’s not for him! Charlie loves walks and the beach, but is also just as happy to curl up under a duvet and relax all day if the weather is bad.

Charlie is very healthy for his age and is not currently on any medication, just a joint supplement for his stiffer old joints. He has slowed down his pace and enjoys short strolls – especially when it’s cold! As he is a senior boy, he will need regular vet checks to keep an eye on his health.

Charlie deserves a cosy loving home for the rest of his retirement. He is incredibly loyal and sweet once he has built trust and loves nothing more than being under a duvet with his people.
