31/12/09 We’ve had some sad news from Britta’s owner. Unfortunately Britta became quite ill recently and her condition deteriorated. Her owner had to make the awful decision of having her put to sleep :( Rest in peace Britta, free from pain.

Britta is a beautiful German Shepherd girl who is almost 8 years old. She used to be a brood bitch for the police until she had an emergency hysterectomy 3 years ago.

Britta lives with her current owner in Manchester, but due to a change in circumstances her owner now has to work long hours, so Britta spends a great deal of time on her own. Her owner is therefore trying to rehome her privately to someone who can give her the love and attention she needs.

Britta loves her food and really enjoys going out for regular walks. She’s a bit of a fair weather girl though and doesn’t like the rain!

Britta is good natured with people and she loves fuss. She was quite happy having lots of people at the house recently when her owner had a birthday party and she didn’t mind the children being around. Due to her age though, her owner would like to find her a home without small children.

Britta can’t live with cats and would need to be the only dog in her new home, so she can have all the attention. She barks when someone comes to the door, but this is just the protective side of her German Shepherd nature.

Britta is neutered and isn’t currently on any medication. She’s had a skin allergy in the past, but a change of diet seems to have corrected this although, due to boredom, she’s been licking her back legs recently.

This lovely old girl just wants a bit of variety in her life and someone to keep her occupied with regular walks and playtime. Can you offer a home to beautiful Britta? If so please contact her owner, Jean, as follows;

Prospective adopters will be homechecked by the owner or by an Oldies Club volunteer. The owner has confirmed that she can take Britta back if the rehoming doesn’t work out for any reason.

Oldies Club suggests you read our article Questions for Adopters which is written to help people who are planning to adopt a dog from a private owner rather than a rescue.
