19/4/2012 A very sad update from Foal Farm .. Arthur’s health has been deteriorating recently and after suffering two fits Foal Farm decided it was time to let him go. He was put to sleep at the kennels, surrounded by everyone he knew and loved, and eating his favourite food, roast chicken. Sleep tight Arthur :(

Update 8/1/2012 We’ve just had a sad update from Foal Farm .. “Arthur has recently had blood tests and the results suggest he may have liver cancer. He is not in any pain at the moment and still has quality of life, but it would be a terrible shame for him to spend the rest of his days in kennels. He’s a very special boy and we are desperately hoping someone can offer him a loving and warm home for whatever time he has left. He is currently on steroids to pep him up, but Foal Farm will continue to pay for these”

Please can you help Arthur?

This sweet little chap is Arthur and he’s a recent addition to Foal Farm Animal Rescue in Kent. Poor Arthur was found abandoned in remote woodland so he’s in need of some love and TLC and a quiet retirement home for the rest of his days.

Arthur is a twelve year old Heinz 57, with possibly a mix of Collie, Jack Russell and maybe some Corgi, but whatever his breed he’s a lovely old boy who will make an ideal companion for someone with a quiet home.

Arthur has very scarred corneas and the rescue believe this is as a result of an untreated eye condition. He is partially sighted and has “old-boy hearing” so he is easily startled if you approach or touch him too quickly. For this reason he’s looking for a quiet home where any children are older, ideally in their teens.

Arthur doesn’t need long walks, but enjoys a potter around the garden now and again. He’d prefer to find a home where he can be the only dog because his poor eyesight and hearing make it difficult for him to socialise well. All he wants is somewhere quiet where he can relax and enjoy his twilight years.

Arthur is scheduled for some dental work very soon, after which he’ll be ready for his home, so Foal Farm would welcome any adoption enquiries and potential owners can go and meet him. All he wants for this year’s Christmas present is a warm and cosy home with someone to love him.
