5/1/20 – Bracken and Tia have gone to their new home!
—————-

Bracken is a 12-year-old Springer Spaniel boy and his best friend Tia is a 9-year-old Labrador x Lurcher girl. They are in an Oldies Club foster home in Gloucestershire, waiting for someone to offer them a permanent home together.

Overview: Bracken and Tia came into the Oldies Club rescue after their owner sadly passed away. This delightful, closely-bonded pair of oldies settled at their foster home within a few days. They enjoy walks, are good in the car and they love an outing.

OK to be left: Bracken and Tia have been fine when left on their own for about 3 hours. Their foster carer thinks they would be fine to live with part-time workers. They might even cope with full-time workers, but they would need a proper break for a walk at lunchtime. Preference is usually given to home offers where dogs won’t have to spend long hours on their own regularly.

Generally OK with other dogs: Bracken and Tia love one another and Tia is friendly with other dogs too. Bracken isn’t good with dogs when he’s on a short lead but is fine when off lead.

Not used to cats: They haven’t lived with cats before and would chase.

Older children: Bracken and Tia don’t have much experience of living with children but they should be fine with calm and sensible teenage children who are used to being around dogs.

Enjoy walks: Bracken and Tia enjoy their walks. Bracken would walk for as long as you will take him, but he does stay on his extender lead unless in enclosed areas as he is deaf. Tia is a joy to walk as she is such a friendly girl, but she does have a touch of arthritis so regular reasonable-length walks are best for her rather than very long walks. Bracken and Tia are currently having two 40-minute walks per day with a short walk in the evening.

Good in the car: Bracken and Tia are both very good in the car and they enjoy an outing.

Favourite pastimes: As well as walks, they enjoy a little bit of play fighting and exploring the garden. Tia enjoys an occasional play with a ball and Bracken loves eating and sleeping.

Their ideal home: The ultimate home for these two beauties would be with active retired people who would take them for lots of fun walks and outings.

Health notes: Bracken and Tia are neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and have been wormed and flea treated. Bracken can only hear very loud and high pitched sounds. Tia has arthritis and though she isn’t currently on medication she might need anti-inflammatories in the future.

More from their foster carers: Bracken and Tia are a devoted pair of dogs. Tia is friendly, obedient and relaxed but timid. Bracken is a friendly, cheeky boy who loves his food and doesn’t like to be disturbed when eating.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
