Please meet Digby, an 8 year old Labrador/Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross. Sadly, before he came to South East Dog Rescue, he spent almost his entire life in kennels and, for this reason, he is looking for a quiet, adult-only, rural home with an experienced owner and without children or visiting children or any other animals.

Considering Digby has spent so much time in kennels, he has adapted successfully to life in a foster home with one female, experienced adult and was delighted to find himself in a comfy home with a choice of beds where he slept …. a lot! However, Digby did become anxious at varying times; everything was completely alien and rather overwhelming at times. When stressed, his foster mum is very calm and helps reassure him by directing him to something more relaxing, like something to chew.

Digby chooses to sleep downstairs at night and is completely house-trained. He can be left for around 4 hours each day and copes perfectly well on his own. He has 3 walks a day and, when left, he is happy to snooze at home whilst she goes out to earn his treat money!

Digby loves playing with toys, but stuffed teddies do not last long. He finds hoovers and hair dryers distressing and his carer puts him in another room when either of these are being used. After arriving at SEDR, he made lots of canine friend and was super friendly to every dog. Since moving into a foster home, he has developed anxiety around other dogs when on walks and will lunge and growl at some dogs. This is one of the reasons he will be placed only in a rural setting where he can enjoy country walks without meeting lots of other dogs.

All in all, Digby is a very sweet boy who just needs understanding, reassurance and time to continue to adjust to life in a home.
