Adorable Barney is a 11-year-old Crossbreed boy who’s urgently seeking either a forever or a foster home through Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool.

Barney has been at Freshfields for a while now and it really is his turn to find happiness. When he first arrived he was extremely frightened and he wondered what on earth was happening to him. He lost weight and Freshfields staff were very worried for poor Barney.

Thankfully he has turned a corner and is slightly less stressed now, but kennels really, really isn’t where he wants nor deserves to be. Let’s help Barney find a home ASAP so that he doesn’t have to spend another winter in kennels.

Gorgeous Barney needs experienced adopters who will be patient and understanding with him. He loves people once he gets to know them, but he just takes a while to trust, so if you are interested in offering him a home you will need to visit him a few times for him to get to know you.

Barney would like a quiet home where there are not too many comings and goings. He needs to be your only pet, and he needs a home with no children around as he’s easily alarmed by sudden noises and movements. Even in a quiet home, it will probably take Barney a while to relax and feel at home. You will need to be patient with him and allow him to come out of his shell at his own pace. Treats will certainly help though!

Barney is easily spooked so he needs a secure garden. His new people will need to be mindful and considerate of his anxieties, such as his extreme fear of being grabbed. There’s obviously something in his past that has made him feel this way, but he is such a loving boy once he’s calm and realises you’re kind.
