3/11/2023 – Connie has been rehomed!
Cute Connie is a small (Westie-sized) girl of around 7 years old. She was brought to the U.K. around 4 years ago by another rescue, but unfortunately they didn’t have the experience to lead train and rehabilitate a dog that hasn’t wanted humans to touch her, so she came to Safe Rescue and is now enjoying life in a foster home in Norwich, Norfolk.
Connie has learned to walk on a lead very quickly but tires currently due to lack of fitness as she has been just eating and sleeping for so long. Human touch has taken a little longer, due to past abuse and she was quite adamant she didn’t want hands on her. However, with time and perseverance, she is now tolerating a fuss and even relaxing during it.
Connie follows her carer around and is very waggy tailed whenever she sees her which proves she is capable of forming trust and bonds with humans. She might not be going out of her way to ask for fusses just yet, but that day will come in the right home environment.
Connie is living happily with a multitude of other dogs in her foster home but shows no sign of being bothered if they are there or not. Although she is currently watching her weight, food is the key to her heart and, in a more one-to-one environment with someone dedicated to earn her trust, she will no doubt become a normal, affectionate dog.
Connie will need an adult family, but visiting children will be fine as long as she has her own space to go to.
Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
