Sweet Jerry is an adorable little Jack Russell x Chihuahua, aged nearly 13yrs old. She is in Oldies Club care being fostered in Westbury in Wilshire awaiting  her forever home.

Summary: Jerry will be 13 yrs old in November and wouldn’t it be wonderful if she could celebrate her birthday in her new forever home. She is described as a lovely calm dog by her fosterer and is looking for an equally calm home where she will be get lots of cuddles, time to snooze, potter around her own garden –  oh, and little trips out in the car too would make her very happy !

Settled well into her foster home : Jerry took no more than a week to settle into her foster home, and as time has gone on she has become more trusting. She slept through the night from the first day she arrived.

Settles well when left : Jerry is happy to be left for 2-3 hours if you need to go out.

Would like to live as an only dog: Jerry is OK with other dogs, but does not like it when they try and sniff her. Its felt that she would be happier as the only dog in the home.

Would prefer a home with people around : Jerry would not like to live where her humans go out to work and leave her for extended periods. She’d love her owners to either work from home, be retired or only work a couple of hours a day. She adores company and deserves to have lots of attention.

Unsure re cats: Jerry has not encountered any cats whilst in foster, so probably best that she doesn’t share her forever home with any.

Could live with children  Jerry’s fosterer feels that she could live with older, sensible and kind youngsters that understand that Jerry is a senior lady that appreciates a bit of peace and quiet, and space to herself at times.

Enjoys Walks; Jerry loves her walks and is currently enjoying 2 x 15minute walks a day. Whilst she hasn’t been off her lead in foster, her recall in the garden is excellent. Jerry would love her own little garden in which she could potter and explore.

Great in the car: Jerry adores the car ! So if you love a day out, Jerry would make the ideal companion. She is currently the star of the local cafe where she gets lots of attention  – it’s not hard to see why !

Favourite Pastimes : Jerry loves sitting on laps watching the world go by, getting lots of fuss, belly rubs and cuddles.

Unfavourite things: She doesn’t like the vacuum cleaner but is ok if she has access to another room. She doesn’t particularly like having her harness put on and will grumble, but the promise of a treat helps! Once it’s on she’s fine. She doesn’t like the vets (which is manageable) or having her front paws touched.

Sleeping Arrangements: Jerry sleeps either in her bed in the bedroom or on the sofa. She would probably also like to sleep on your bed, but this is not currently encouraged as it’s high and it’s felt she might fall off and hurt herself.

Health Notes; Jerry is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea-treated – She has Cushings which is under control with Vetoryl, 25mg a day, and arthritis which is managed by Meloxicam and paracetamol.

Jerry only has two teeth left but manages perfectly well on soft food and soft treats.

Four adjectives that sum up Jerry: Affectionate, fun, resilient, interactive.

Last words from Jerry’s fosterer: “Jerry is an all round lovely calm dog who loves cuddles and meeting people. She enjoys going out in the car, particularly to our local dog friendly cafe where she gets a lot of attention! She’s quite food orientated and her body clock is very accurate, she will remind you a little while before her food is due. She’s very resilient, after her dental operation she bounced back really quickly, despite coming out with only two teeth left. She likes to sit on our laps out in the garden and catch all the different scents and watch the world go by. She’s quite self assured.”
