Tilly is an 11-year-old Yorkshire Terrier x Chihuahua who came into the Oldies Club rescue as she wasn’t getting along with the other female dog in her home. Tilly is now in a foster home near Feltham, Middlesex, waiting for someone to offer her a permanent home.

Summary: Tilly is feisty, funny and extremely cute! She is looking for a home as your only pet but she could live with older children. She needs regular shortish walks and home with a nice safe garden. She’s good in the car and enjoys playtime and belly rubs!

Settled well: It look Tilly about a week to settle at her foster home. She is OK to be left alone for a few hours while you pop to the shops etc., but she wouldn’t suit a home where people go out to work.
Wants to be your only dog: Tilly needs a home where she is your only pet. She will thrive as your special companion.

Chases cats: Tilly barks very loudly when she sees cats and she will chase them. She would not be happy living with a cat.
Could live with children aged 10+: Tilly is good with children. She could live with children who are old enough to appreciate that just because she is small, Tilly isn’t a toy. She would also be happy to have well-supervised youngsters visit her home.
Enjoys short walks: Tilly arrived with a harness that she didn’t seem to like and she would try to avoid having it put on. Tilly now has a new harness that she prefers. The old harness fastened under her neck, but the new one fastens at her back. Tilly is generally very good on the lead, but she will bark at cats she sees, or foxes. She is good at meeting other dogs, as long as they don’t bark at her, otherwise she will respond with barking. Her recall is good in the house and from the garden. Tilly only has little legs, and a heart murmur, so she is recommended to have a few shorter walks each day rather than one big walk. Her foster carer takes her out four times a day for a 12-15 minute walk each time. The final walk being at around 9:30pm for a wee.

Very good in the car: Tilly is great in the car, but she will make a big fuss and bark loudly when she arrives at her destination.
Tilly’s favourite pastimes: She loves treats, but she mustn’t have too many! She likes to play with people, and have her belly rubbed, but she can get over-excited easily. Tilly is not interested in toys – her foster carer has tried her with a few.
Tilly’s dislikes: Tilly was not at all happy about the bangs and whizzes of recent fireworks, and barked loudly at them. If she heard them when on her walk, she would bark, but also shake from fear.

Tilly’s ideal home: Lovely Tilly would be happy with a retired or semi-retired person or couple, in a house with a nice private garden, and good nearby walks.
Sleeping arrangements: Tilly has a bed which she sleeps in during the day, but she sometimes creeps up and sleeps on her foster carer’s bed at night.

Health notes: Tilly is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. She has had a dental since coming into rescue and needed to have five teeth removed. She has a heart murmur, caused by Mitral Valve Disease, but this is at stage B1, with no symptoms and no changes on ultrasound scan or x-rays. If it progresses to B2, she will then need medication.

Foster carer’s summary: “Little Tilly is feisty, cute, loud and funny“.

Tilly can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to his foster home the better – subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect him.
If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
