Lottie and Libby are an adorable, bonded pair of female Whippet Crosses. As you can see, they are truly devoted to each other and are looking for a very special home together with the help of Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue in Worcestershire.

Lottie is 10 years old and Libby is a youngster at 6 years. Although they are a bonded pair, they have very different personalities and needs, but their love for one another is such that rehoming them separately simply would not work. They can live with other dogs and possibly children over 14 years old.

Lottie, the older of the pair, has some medical issues but still enjoys her walks preferring to walk in quieter areas. She is an amazing dog and what she must have endured before coming into rescue is impossible to imagine. When she arrived, she had some “wonky” legs, was very underweight and had severely decayed teeth. Her vet-check was shocking and upsetting, revealing a severe liver function issue. Due to this, the vets were not comfortable proceeding with a general anaesthetic and instead performed a scan, which highlighted a very serious problem. X-rays revealed Lottie had suffered major trauma resulting in devastating injuries: both of her femoral necks had fractured and she had also previously broken a leg. Most concerning of all, she was found to have a diaphragmatic hernia, which had allowed her liver, spleen, and part of her intestines to move into her chest cavity. This significantly reduced her lung capacity and put pressure on her heart. Her main current issue is her liver function.

All of these injuries have gone untreated and, after consulting with two additional vets, it was decided that surgery was not an option due to the severity and age of her injuries, her compromised liver function and the risks associated with repairing the hernia. All three vets agreed that the best option was for quality of life and the aim is to give Lottie the very best life. She is at present thriving and loving life. Lottie still enjoys her walks and goes out for several short walks each day. She needs to be walked in quieter areas, as she can be reactive to other dogs when on lead. She may be small, but her bark is mighty. Lottie is fully house-trained, travels well in the car and can be left for up to 3 – 4 hours with Libby without any issues. Due to her medical problems, the Rescue would be prepared to help with the current medical costs for Lottie.

Libby is the bigger and younger of the pair. She is extremely affectionate, loves everyone and is good with other dogs. She loves her walks but cannot be off-lead due to her high prey drive. She adores cuddles and will happily lie completely across you. Libby loves everybody and makes friends wherever she goes. She is good with other dogs and currently lives happily with several dogs in her foster home, alongside Lottie. She is happy walking either on her own or with her pack of doggy friends.

Libby travels reasonably well in the car, although she can be a little worried. If unrestrained, she will try to exit the car quickly once you reach your destination. She is also quite the jumper and has previously managed to clear a nearly 6ft gate at her foster home, so a very securely fenced garden is essential. She is fully house-trained and non-destructive. She is a truly lovely and special little girl.
