27/9/09 Kyser has sadly had to be put to sleep due to an illness.

———————

Kyser is a gorgeous 10 year old Doberman Cross who is being privately rehomed as his owner has to reluctantly give him up. He is a much loved pet and heartbreaking as it is for his owner, she feels that Kyser will be happier with someone who can give him the time that he deserves. Family circumstances mean that he is having to be left longer than is good for him and his owner is very keen to find him a new home with people who can love and care for him.

Kyser is friendly, energetic and playful. He loves walks and stilll behaves like a big puppy in spite of his age! He loves squeaky toys and does lots of tricks. He travels quite well in the car, but will need a dog crate or seatbelt as he tends to bounce around. He is a good guard dog as he barks when strangers knock at the door, but is soon friendly with them once inside.

Kyser doesn’t always take to all other dogs, but if he meets one he doesn’t particularly care for, he will move aside instead of confronting them. As with most dogs, if you are thinking of adopting Kyser, it would be a good idea to bring along any dogs you already own to meet him before making the final decision. His owner feels that he would like a younger girlfriend and has been very friendly with a neighbour’s female boxer dog. He would make a wonderful ‘only dog’ too.

Due to his bouncy nature, Kyser would make a wonderful friend for sensible older children and would enjoy all sorts of games – but is probably not ideal for a family with very little ones who might get knocked over. Kyser isn’t recommended for a home with cats as he likes to chase them.

Kyser has no idea that he is a mature man, in fact on his birthday he insists on ice cream, which must be in a wafer and not a cone and you must NOT forget his birthday cake!
As you can see from his photo he is a great big softie really. He doesn’t have many faults, apart from being a little drooly and a little jealous of his owner sometimes. A little training on walking without pulling could also be good for him.

Healthwise, Kyser has a skin condition and a haematoma on his ear that is receiving ongoing treatment. He needs monthly injections for the skin problem, which are currently covered by Petplan insurance. The policy should be transferrable if he goes straight to a new owner.

He looks just adorable in his picture and is going to bring lots of fun and joy to his new family. His owner will be so relieved to find those special people for Kyser, as he has so much love to give.

Prospective adopters will be homechecked by the owner or by an Oldies Club volunteer. The owner has also confirmed that he/she will take this dog back if the rehoming didn’t work out for any reason.

The Oldies Club suggests you read our article Questions for Adopters which is written to help people who are planning to adopt a dog from a private owner rather than a rescue.
