14/7/2013 It’s with a sad heart that Rocky had to be PTS. A swab was taken from his ears as they were not responding to treatment which showed a catalogue of bacteria that the vet said would take a very long time to resolve and may never resolve because of how long they had been left. It was agreed that rather than him spend many weeks in pain and under a lot of stress it would be better to let him go.

Handsome Rocky is a 7 year old German Shepherd who came to Blaby District Council in Leicestershire as a stray but it’s now known it was his owner who handed him in. He had been left with ear infections for so long that there was puss actually running out and down either side of his face – poor Rocky.

Rocky is currently being treated for the infections which isn’t being helped by the fact that he hates vets and would not let anyone near his ears, although he must be in a lot of pain, to be fair. He will not be ready for homing until his ears are clear.

Rocky has been neglected and his temperament is such that he will need an experienced Shepherd owner who will give him time and space to bond, but it’s felt that he has been so let down by his previous owner that he deserves a second chance for a happy life.

Rocky needs a home with adults where he can get one-to-one attention without other pets. Having seen how he is bonding with the staff in the rescue, they are sure he will make a great companion for the right person.

Rocky will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated before rehoming.

Could you be that special person to give Rocky a chance of happiness at last?
