18/3/15 – We just had the sad news that Sapphire has passed away. :(
Sapphire is a stunning 10 year old German Shepherd who needs a new home due to a change in family circumstances. She’s safe in a foster home in Stevenage, Herts., for UK German Shepherd Rescue at the moment but she’d love a loving forever home where she can settle down, develop a daily routine and enjoy life.
Sapphire has spent most of her life outside in the garden and only sleeps indoors in bad weather. However, she loves coming indoors and is housetrained. She loves to play and would like to live with a new human or humans who will inject some much needed fun into her life. Sapphire is strong on the lead at first but soon settles. She hasn’t had much exercise lately so this will need to be built up gradually. She’s fine in the car but will need help getting in and out.
Sapphire is not used to children so an adult only home would probably be best although a family with older children might well be suitable. Sapphire hasn’t been socialised with many other dogs but she usually ignores them unless they get in her face in which case she air snaps then hides. She has lived with a cat but as they were not allowed to mix, her attitude towards cats is unknown.
Sapphire is on medication for arthritis in her hips, which at her age is quite common. The medication costs approximately £10 per month.
