18/3/18 – We’re delighted to hear that Gibson has found a new home, and his new family found him on the Oldies Club website!

Gibson is an 8 year old Chihuahua with a sad tale to tell. He is now with Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool and needs to find a new home.
Gibson lived with his devoted owner all of his life, but as his owner’s health started to deteriorate, she relied heavily upon the help of carers who needed to come into the home. Loyal little Gibson of course didn’t understand what was happening and he tried his very best to protect his beloved owner from these strangers who had invaded his home. Poor Gibson and his poor owner.
Freshfields are simply heartbroken for Gibson. He is completely bewildered to find himself in kennels. He is starting to come out of his shell and will let Freshfields staff stroke him and pick him up, but he does not like being examined by the vet and will try to bite.
Gibson would be best suited to a home with one person, and he seems to prefer the company of females. Like most Chihuahuas, Gibson is wary of new people, especially men. Ideally, Gibson should go to a home with someone who is experienced with the breed and familiar with their little traits. Gibson will need an adult only home with no visiting children. He would be best suited to a calm and quiet household with few visitors and with someone around for most of the day.
He has lived with cats and dogs in the past and also shares his kennel with other dogs. Freshfields believe he would benefit from a home with other animals as he should gain confidence from them and they should help him adjust to his new home.
Freshfields say: “This boy is such a sweetheart and really does deserve a second chance at happiness with an understanding owner. He will make such a loyal friend for the right person.”
*Please note that Gibson is not a tiny Chihuahua – he weighs 6.2kg.*
