25/06/18 – Very sad news about Panda. He has had to be put to sleep after being diagnosed with acute leukaemia. This is especially sad as he had had a lovely home offer. Sleep tight, Panda.
————————

Panda is a sweet loving boy despite having had a rough life before being rescued by Love Underdogs. He is now about 10 years old and he really deserves a special retirement home where he can be pampered and loved for his remaining years.

Panda was a stray who lived on an industrial estate for many years. People came by to feed him, but that was all. When he was brought to the public pound, he had a maggot infestation on his back. Thankfully he got the emergency care he needed and is now back to health.

Panda has gained lots of life experience during his long years on his own. Now he just wants a family of his own and just a little place on someone’s sofa. He loves being with people, although he is just learning how to be cuddled and to enjoy it. When he is used to feeling safe and loved, he might learn to enjoy cuddles more, or maybe it’s just not his thing! In any case, he is the sweetest boy who is very happy to have people around him.

Panda enjoys learning new things and taking part in interesting activities. He gets bored in kennels and tries to keep busy with puzzle feeders and interesting nature walks. He doesn’t need long walks because of his arthritis, but he likes sniffing flowers, walking along streams and listening to the birds, all the thing he missed out on in his former life. He is a nature-lover so would appreciate an owner who shares his feeling for beauty and nature. He is on Metacam for his arthritis and will be for life.

Panda loves being out in nature

Panda likes other dogs but will want to share his home with a nice, calm dog, no boisterous pups, please. Because of his age, he really should move into an adult home that is quiet and relaxed. He attempts to play, but hasn’t quite got the hang of it yet. Again, this may come in time.

Because Panda is bored in kennels, it is important that he moves into a loving home as soon as possible. He wants a quiet home, preferably with access to parks or the countryside. He is happy sharing with another dog or two,  but would also be happy as an only dog. Most likely he will be not be bothered with cats; he has probably seen a lot of them in his time. He is a gentle, kind soul who just wants a garden to lie around in and sunbathe and, most importantly, people who will love and care for him as he deserves. He doesn’t want for much more than a peaceful and fulfilled doggie life.
