8/7/18 – Sheba is staying in permanent foster with Arundawn.

Dear old Sheba is a Staffy girl, aged 13, who’s recent homelessness put her in a state of turmoil and she had completely shut down emotionally. But then, a kind person gave her the chance she needed and she’s now recovering in foster care in West Sussex through Arundawn Dog Rescue.

Sheba wants to be an only pet at home. She has lived with another dog before but with the stress she’s gone through, she only wants people around her at the moment. She’s good with children, still trusting humans.

Sheba had been so stressed in kennels that on her journey to her foster home, she completely zonked out…

She did a lot of sleeping at first. She must have felt she was safe at last…

With TLC and some gentle coaxing, allowing her to come to terms with things at her own pace, she’s started to take an interest in life again…

Her foster carer said, “We are delighted to say that Sheba is settling and seems to be happier …still sad, I feel, but happier overall.

“Eating roast chicken with gusto and loving the company of the children. She is becoming more confident in her surroundings. So I am hopeful things will get brighter for her.”

Now that Sheba’s feeling more like herself, she would love to find her forever home. Even when she was at her lowest she still found people’s kindness reassuring. She’s a completely people oriented dog and will form a strong bond with her very own human. She might still be keen on long naps though!

Sheba is spayed and seems to be in good health for a mature lady. Her eyes are a bit cloudy but this doesn’t hold her back at all.
