6/9/19 – We are so pleased to see that Buster has found a home with a Freshfields staff member!

Beautiful Buster is a 10 year old English Bull Terrier cross in the care of Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool. He’s been sadly overlooked because he finds kennel life stressful with all those other dogs to worry about. He’s looking for an adult only home, free from visiting children and without any children planned for the future. He will also need to be the only pet and his snuggle quota is very important to him!

Buster was loved and doted on by his previous owners but sadly the husband developed dementia and the situation became difficult as a result. Through no fault of his own Buster had to be confined to the kitchen and back garden without any stimulation or exercise. The lady of the house was heartbroken to have to part with him but given the circumstances it was the best thing for Buster.

Buster is an amazing dog and staff at Freshfields are truly besotted with him. However he does not cope very well with stress and can be quite challenging at times. When Buster is stressed he takes his frustration out by jumping up and grabbing hold of his lead or dispatching any hapless soft toys.

Buster goes home regularly with a member of staff for short breaks away from the rescue and in the home he is an absolute angel. He is the perfect house guest, clean and well behaved. He spends a lot of time snoozing and is a bit of a couch potato.

He’s always happy to soak up the sunshine!

Away from the hustle and bustle and general stress of kennel life he truly thrives. He has so much potential and in the right home with an experienced owner he will surely blossom. Buster seems to cope well with being left for a few hours, as long as he has a nice comfy bed to snooze in! Someone with experience of rescue dogs and especially strong breeds would suit Buster best.

Generally Buster walks really well on a lead however he can be strong when he is distracted by a passer-by or a dog whilst out walking. Care will need to be taken on walks as he can be very reactive and may lunge or bark, proving to be quite strong at times. However he responds well to using treats as distraction when or if needed. He has so much potential and is an intelligent boy, desperate to please and respond to you.

Any potential home would need to meet Buster several times before adoption, this would then progress into a slow introduction into the home so please bear in mind your distance from the rescue.
