27/3/19 – Cocoa was spotted on the Oldies Club website and has gone to live in Devon!
This handsome, furry bundle is Cocoa and he is a small/medium-sized Collie Cross-type boy. He is about 8 years old and weighs 13kg. He is being rehomed by Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Tring, Hertfordshire and looking for an ideal life in a quieter home without children or other pets.
Cocoa is a gentle, affectionate dog who loves his tummy rubbed. He had a lovely home with a retired lady living alone. Although restricted to a wheelchair for much of the time, she was still able to take Cocoa out and about including to dog training. Cocoa has achieved a good standard of obedience but, unfortunately, now needs to find a new home due to fairly specific requirements which proved difficult for his previous owner to fulfil in her situation.
Cocoa is excellent in the house, travels well by car and can be left alone for 3 -4 hours at a time without becoming distressed. He walks in a relaxed manner on-lead with other calm dogs also on-lead, but he can become uncomfortable when let off-lead or faced with loose dogs rushing around him. There has been one occasion when Cocoa reacted to a large, male dog that didn’t understand he didn’t want to play. However, at the Rescue Centre, Cocoa is now mixing and matching happily with a variety of other dogs every day as part of a structured programme of socialisation.
Cocoa is so very deserving of a second chance. His new owner will need to understand that, while Cocoa loves his walks, these should be on-lead to minimise any anxiety and must be able to give him the guidance he will continue to need. Cocoa has so much to offer someone experienced with dogs who is looking for a loyal companion and walking buddy.
Cocoa is just a lovely boy and has been no problem at all while in rescue. He is happy to go out on the lead with other dogs and simply wants to be told what to do, bless him. Cocoa is neutered and is very fit and well for his age. He has no underlying health issues that have been detected.
