02/07/19 – Dave has been adopted! Hooray!

This handsome lad is Dave, a senior Akita that has come to Friends Of Akitas Trust UK after his owner sadly passed away. He’s currently in kennels in Nottinghamshire. His microchip says he is 12. However he behaves so much younger!

You would think in his senior years that Dave would be a pipe and slippers kind of guy but no, he loves to be out and about enjoying a walk and he keeps up with the dogs much younger than himself. He likes to vocalise to tell everyone how much he is enjoying himself and so he can gain himself the position up front as leader of the pack.

Dave has a wise and handsome face and a beautifully soft coat. He has obviously been well cared for, in fact he does actually need to lose a couple of pounds. He is a very kind and gentle boy. He loves a cuddle and a tummy scratch and given the opportunity, he does the classic Akita lean. He is also true to the Akita breed in that he is very, very stubborn if he doesn’t want to do something.

FOA were told that Dave isn’t good with other dogs although he doesn’t react around the other dogs at kennels. Keeping what they were told in mind though, he’d do best in a home where he can be an only pet. Dave can live with older children but isn’t cat tested.

Dave is neutered, microchipped, is fully vaccinated and has a clean bill of health. He just needs that lovely retirement home of his very own where he can be comfortable and loved for the rest of his days.  If you feel that could be with you, please contact Friends Of Akitas Trust as follows:
