25/10/2020 – Ernie has been adopted! Hooray!

Happily, Ernie is now safely living in a foster home in Norwich, Norfolk, provided by Safe Rescue after spending several years in a Romanian public shelter. As with most oldies, all he wants is a quiet home environment with all the home comforts he has been deprived of for so long.

Ernie is an 8 – 9 year old, medium-sized Crossbreed. Despite being devoid of human contact for so long, he is a sweet and affectionate boy who is adapting beautifully to his U.K. life. He is initially a little cautious of new people but, if he is allowed time to get to know them without being crowded, he soon becomes their best friend (treats also help).

Ernie enjoys gentle walks and feeling the grass beneath his feet after so many years purely on concrete. He is a quiet boy who is happy to sleep away a few hours if left home alone. He gets on well with other dogs but would prefer not to live with young boisterous dogs that will jump all over him in his twilight years. For the first time in his life, he can relax and sleep peacefully knowing nothing is going to kick-off while he rests.

After arriving, Ernie developed a condition in one of his eyes, possibly due to past trauma, which eventually resulted in his having to have the eye removed. Being blind in that eye makes him a little more cautious of his movement and he really needs an adult only, steady home environment. He is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered.
