Please help Joey by sharing this page!

Joey is a small, 13 year old Terrier type in the care of Cheltenham Animal Shelter in Gloucestershire. He wants a peaceful retirement in an adult only home, as an only pet.

Like a lot of smaller oldies, Joey knows his own mind. He’s an independent sort who will come to you in his own time. He doesn’t like being handled, even for fuss. This is tricky for such a cute little dog as people he meets will naturally want to stroke him.

He doesn’t hold with strangers looming over him and being forward, so he needs an owner who understands his need for space and who doesn’t have a lot of visitors. He just wants a quiet life and a respectful human companion… with treats.

Joey is very undemanding and a lovely boy to have around. After a walk or a potter in the garden, he’s content to snooze the day away in his bed. He can be left during the day and will be pleased to see you when you return. As long as he has home comforts and routine, Joey’s a happy boy…

…assuming that routine includes treats!

If you think Joey might be the peace-loving companion for you and you are able to make at least 3 visits to get to know him first, please contact Cheltenham Animal Shelter as follows:
