Midge is a beautiful 10-year-old girl who is at Love Underdogs in Waltham Abbey, Essex. Medium-sized Midge needs a quiet home without children but you must be active. It isn’t known if she can live with cats. Midge would be OK living with another dog, preferably smaller than her, but she would need to meet her potential new friend at the kennels prior to adoption.

Midge has had a very difficult life. She was terribly injured back in her native Romania in the pound where she was held. Anther dog grabbed the top of her head through the cage next to hers and she found herself with no skin on top of her head. The wound has healed, but she has no hair or pigmentation on top of her head and she also has a split ear. Consequently she must wear sun protection on her bald patch when she’s outside.

Midge arrived at Love Underdogs at the beginning of the year. She was very frightened and unwilling to connect with people or be touched. But she has since moved on a great deal and has even spent a week on foster with one of their trusted volunteers to see how she would cope. She was the perfect house guest!

She is not looking for fuss, but she is starting to enjoy a stroke and very subtly asks for a little more by looking when you stop. She loves food puzzles, which she has regularly – they keep her entertained – and she also loves exploring the outdoors.

This lovely girl is playful with smaller dogs. She needs an active home as she loves her walks, and someone with a secure garden who will keep her really safe in the initial phase as she can be a bit of an escape artist.

In the home she was clean, slept through the night and got into the rhythmn of her foster carer’s life very easily. The only area for improvement is her confidence with people and new situations. She will become a dog who likes a fuss, but she’s not quite there yet. The fosterer described her as an uncomplicated little girl with a beautiful soul.

Midge’s new people will need to be able to visit her a few times at the kennels and be prepared to invest in a happy future at her own pace. You will need to be patient, loving and kind. She needs a quiet home so she can enjoy life without stress.

All Love Underdogs’ dogs are rehomed with a home trial for 2 weeks before a formal adoption. Love Underdogs offer behaviourist support for the lifetime of the dog.
