17/5/20 – We are very sad to relay the news that Nellie became very poorly and has sadly passed away. Rest in peace, beautiful Nellie.

Pennine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) in Todmorden, West Yorkshire are proud to present this strapping ginger lass. The ever delightful Nellie!

Nellie is an 8 year old Ridgeback cross (possibly with a bit of Lab) and ever so loving with her humans!

She wants to be the only pet at home and has a habit of guarding you from other dogs when out and about. The rescue are working on getting her out of this habit and she is improving. Her new owner will need to reward relaxed behaviour around other dogs, rather than just trying to correct her if she reacts. Obviously, walking her in quiet places will be the most relaxing all round. She loves running around off the lead in a secure field, especially if a ball is involved!

A galloping Nellie is an impressive sight…

…but the “Whoa Nellie!” part can be a little undignified.

Being a big, strong girl, she needs a strong owner. She can wear a Halti which helps keep her forward-going nature in check. This is another thing she’s making progress on at PAWS. She’s a highly trainable, food-oriented people pleaser and does an exemplary “paw” for a treat.

Nellie’s favourite thing (not counting the treats) is love! She freely gives kisses and cuddles. She really enjoys cuddling up on the sofa. And when Nellie cuddles you, you stay cuddled!

Her big, open hearted nature makes it especially sad that she’s been in kennels for months now. Nellie truly deserves to be in a happy home once more!
