23/5/21 – Bennie has fitted in so well at his foster home that they have decided to adopt him!
—————

Poor Bennie was saved from a Romanian public shelter and luckily brought into the care of Safe Rescue for some TLC in a foster home in Gorleston, Norfolk.

Bennie is a medium Crossbreed who is believed to be around 7 years old. He was completely terrified of humans and would bite if touched. For months, he hid under the kitchen table of his foster home only coming out for the essentials of food, drink and toileting. Bennie was in a deep depression and nothing seemed to lift it; in fact, the more his carer tried, the more reclusive he became.

However, a couple of months ago something changed in Bennie. He started to spend longer outside when he got up for those essentials and he didn’t run back in if he saw anyone out there. He began sitting in open spaces in the kitchen and making eye contact when there was food. Next, he started to get up and greet his carers with a wagging tail when they got up in the mornings or came home. The advances, when they finally started, came thick and fast. Next thing they knew he was lead trained and joining them on walks in the woods, out in the big wide world! These days he’s first in the queue at walk time and raring to go!

Now, at last, he is ready to find his forever home. He is still quite lazy at home and likes long naps, but he is also showing pleasure and joy in other things life has to offer. He’s still not asking for fuss and cuddles too much, but he is very accepting of them and that too will come in time.

Bennie needs a home with no small children. He would like a quietish home with another dog (which the Rescue could happily also provide if needed). Bennie is not cat tested, but it would be surprising if he reacted at all to them and he could be tested if necessary.

Bennie is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered and an adoption fee and home check apply.

Note: Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from Safe Rescue must wear a slip lead on walks for the duration of their lives. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue.
