Conny is a special, medium-sized, approximately 10 year old Crossbreed lady who came into Safe Rescue from a Romanian shelter in 2016. The level of abuse she had sustained prior to this has meant that she has been a very difficult dog to convince that humans are okay and anyone applying to adopt Conny will need a good level of dog experience.

For the last couple of years, she’s shown a lot of love to her foster family and regular visitors in Norwich, but the major barrier is she wouldn’t let anyone groom her without a major battle. This doesn’t sound like a deal-breaker, but she does moult and it does need doing. For whatever reason, a few weeks ago Conny decided she would comply with grooming; she still doesn’t love it and it’s done little and often so as not to distress her, but the job is getting done!

Conny absolutely loves her walks and delights in water sports. Doesn’t matter to her if it’s a lake, the sea or a disgustingly muddy puddle, she’s in and she’s loving it. She is crazy about food and does the most delightful happy dances. She will let people stroke her but it’s still not on the list of her favourite things and she shows that she loves you in other ways.

Conny will need another dog in her foster home, but she doesn’t like dogs that are too much in her face. Another older dog would be ideal, but any calm and steady dog would fit the bill. Conny is very fit and active for her age and can still do an hour’s off-lead walk with ease (though new adopters cannot let her off lead for several weeks). Fences and gates must be 5ft minimum and secure. Conny needs a home with no children under the age of twelve.

Conny is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Having had her for five long years, the Rescue is looking for a really special home to allow her to enjoy her twilight years thoroughly.

Note: Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from Safe Rescue must wear a slip lead on walks for the duration of their lives. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
